Dear Maya,
Good for you. You have picked two very important arguments to discuss. I totally agree with you that one should dress according to their personality and not like a another sheep in a herd. One has to be secure and confident of oneself in order to stand out from the crowd, and you obviously are able to do that. Good for you. Unfortunately people often try to hide behind their exterior presence. Regarding the second article about women being portrayed as sex toys, unfortunately we allowed that to happen. Women, wake up and show some respect for yourselves!! Thank you Maya for sharing your very mature thoughts and giving us the opportunity to reflect on who we should really be! JYOTI
Maya, I love self-confident leaders like you who can start a fashion trend, rather than follow one blindly.
BTW, you write very well, and very thought-inspiringly.
I'm also glad that you are confident enough to use the "f" word - feminist! In this day and age the word has negative connotations amongst some circles!
GO GIRL!

Dear Maya, i am totally inspired by your blog comments and am so proud that you are a voice of individuality and confidence where most kids your age are just following the trend and the crowd and are too scared or insecure to be who they are and stand up for what they believe in. Totally agree with your fashion statements - it's about expressing your individuality and wlaking tall and proud in your own sense of style, and can't agree more that it is a crime that women allow themselves to be degraded through music and the media. Takes young leaders like you to speak out with what's worng with this picture! I will sign on for more - with love,
Mohini
Women created this crappy existence for themselves by being conformists until the 1920's. Im not saying its all your fault, but i am saying that enough women dont stand up for themselves and their images to counteract the women that do, and the majority of those who do appear so are rarely taken seriously. its not a male attitude that should be changed, its a female one.
